Jean Georges NYC | A 5th Anniversary Lunch to Remember š«
For our fifth wedding anniversary, we left the kids in DC and treated ourselves to a rare date night at this three-Michelin-star French restaurant in New York. Overall experience: 4/5 stars. The dishes, centered around tangy and spicy flavors, were a pleasant surprise, and the service was impeccable ā though the dessert course was quite disappointing. š½ļø Dish-by-Dish Review ā”ļø Stunning Starter: The crispy sushi was perfection ā the sweetness of the sashimi in perfect harmony with the crispy rice cake base ā”ļø Caviar Art: The soft-yolked egg paired with caviar was expertly cooked, releasing waves of briny flavor ā”ļø Classic Execution: The potato foam was rich, though relatively basic in the world of French cuisine ā”ļø Spicy Challenge: The fish was tender, but the accompanying chili peppers packed a punch ā non-spice lovers be warned ā”ļø Duck Debate: The duck breast was incredibly tender at medium-rare, though some may still prefer the comfort of a braised duck leg š« Dessert Warning The chocolate-based desserts in the main dessert selection were disappointing, lacking the depth even of Costco chocolate ice cream. Though the complimentary anniversary cake was a sweet gesture, its flavor also fell short. We'd recommend skipping dessert and ending your meal on the high note of the main courses. š° The Bill We opted for the 6-course + 3-course menus to try everything Final total after tax: exactly $500 Given the $138 price for 3 courses, it's quite reasonable for a three-Michelin-star experience Despite the dessert letdown, the creative starters, the chef's masterful use of tangy and spicy elements, and the flawless service made our anniversary truly special. Worth a special trip ā but know when to stop: skip the dessert! #Michelin3Star #NYCFrenchCuisine #AnniversaryCelebration #FoodReview #DiningTips
