Kaliningrad | Catching the Last Tail of Summer 🏖️
🛩️ Transport: Direct flight from Moscow, about 2h 20min 🏨 Accommodation: Stayed at EVropa Hotel in the city center – great location, but the room was a bit damp. 🧥 Clothing: Knitwear + seaside dress + warm scarf. September gets chilly, so bring a jacket! DAY 1 Airport (20-min taxi) → Cat Town (20-min train) → City center (7-min walk) → Hotel ✔️ Zelenogradsk (Cat Town) – Train stop: Zelenogradsk-Novy Attractions: Seaside + Main Street. You can take a taxi directly to Skver Kotofeynya (main square). Morning: Perfect for seaside photos – great light and temperature. Afternoon: Explore the main street – cat-themed traffic lights 🐱🚦, manhole covers, mural walls, museums, etc. Evening: Ride the Ferris wheel for a soft, golden sunset view 🎡🌅. ✔️ Lunch at Oblaka: Seaside restaurant with great views. Their pork knuckle is delicious 😋! Grilled chicken was also good. ✔️ Xleb: Tried their ice cream – not bad 🍦. ✔️ Kartofo: Palmier pastries – chocolate flavor was a bit too sweet, but the almond and cinnamon ones (tried later in Svetlogorsk) were yummy. Almond is the best! ✔️ Konigsbacker: Egg tarts and cream puffs – just okay, maybe because they were served cold. ✔️ Transport: Main street and seaside are within walking distance. Train tickets back to the city are flexible – no fixed train time after purchase. DAY 2 Hotel (6-min taxi) → World Ocean Museum (12-min walk) → Königsberg Cathedral (10-min walk) → Fish Village (50-min train) → Svetlogorsk (Snail Town) (40-min taxi) → Airport ✔️ City Attractions: Due to limited time, we only found 3 of the 7 bronze dwarf statues (Khomlins): One near the World Ocean Museum One at the Honey Bridge in Fish Village One near the Modern Art Museum Also visited the famous Königsberg Cathedral. Perfect city for slow walks – you could easily spend a day reading in a café ☕📚. ✔️ Lev Borodinskiy: Near Honey Bridge – tried their croissants for breakfast 🥐 – pretty good! ✔️ Svetlogorsk (Snail Town) – Train stop: Svetlogorsk-2 Attractions: Also split between seaside and main street. Take the cable car down to the beach right after getting off the train 🚡. The water is clearer than in Cat Town, and the sand is super fine 🏝️. Main street features snail sculptures 🐌, a miniature map, a giant elevator, etc. Note: The coastal boardwalk is under renovation due to ongoing development. ✔️ Dinner at Ochag: Another seaside restaurant with stunning views 🌊. Their pork buckwheat and grilled chicken were tasty. Bonus: They played Jay Chou’s music! 🎶🥰 #TravelFragments #OffTheBeatenPath #TravelDiary #ScenicJourney #SeasideDreams #Kaliningrad #DayTrip #SeasideVibes #FerrisWheel #OceanViews 📸✨
