Kasama – Michelin-Starred Bakery in Chicago 🥐

A Filipino Michelin restaurant doing French pastries? I was skeptical at first. My first visit was in-person — stood in the summer sun for ages, and by the time I got in, the popular items were already sold out. I tried a Danish (not the foie gras one) and wasn’t impressed — didn’t feel worth the wait. My second time ordering from Kasama happened because I missed a reservation somewhere else 😅 Thankfully, you can order online — I got the foie gras Danish and the ube coconut ensaymada. The ensaymada was way too sweet — not a fan. But the foie gras Danish was absolutely incredible! Rich foie fat paired with berry jam — savory, sweet, and not greasy at all. The touch of mint was genius — a refreshing lift just when you start feeling the richness. Truly Michelin-level in flavor, texture, and balance. That led to my third visit — I still hadn’t tried the black truffle croissant, and as a truffle lover, I Ubered over just for it. At $15 a croissant, expectations were high. The first bite made the world go quiet — immersed in the buttery layers of pastry and the earthy, woody aroma of truffle, balanced perfectly with sugar crystals on top. I actually preferred the flaky pastry itself over the filling (which was a tad sweet, masking the croissant’s natural fragrance). Still, the experience left a deep impression — solid 10/10. I loved it so much that now, being away from Chicago, I actually miss it… It’s that special.😊😂 There are a few other great bakeries in Chicago I hope to visit next time: • Obelix – Weekend brunch includes a bakery selection. • BadButter – Online orders only, sells out crazy fast. • Del Sur Bakery – Near Lincoln Square, a bit farther from downtown but great value and delicious everyday flavors. #ChicagoEats #Kasama #MichelinBakery #PastryLove #FoieGrasDanish #TruffleCroissant
