Kyōten — Incredibly High-Quality Japanese Dining in Chicago 🍣
Last fall, Chef Otto decided to close the restaurant for renovations while he took some time to explore New York and Las Vegas. After reopening this year, I’d planned to visit right away — but life got busy, and I finally made it after my own trip to New York! Compared to other omakase spots in Chicago, Otto is definitely the more adventurous one. He refreshes both the appetizers and sushi offerings frequently, always with top-tier ingredients and exceptional flavors. 🍱 Think dishes like monkfish liver, abalone, and buttery snow crab — you rarely find these at other local spots! I wish I could share more photos, but Otto’s sushi selection is outstanding — from varying grades of tuna fat to Japanese sardines cured in kelp, plus three different hand rolls! And the finale? A tamagoyaki (egg omelet) infused with corn and maple syrup, glazed to a delicate, crème brûlée-like finish — absolutely unforgettable. 🍳🍯 Good news: Kyōten now accepts individual reservations, so you don’t need a full group to experience it. If you’re into refined Japanese cuisine, this place is absolutely worth the visit! 🎌💫 Kyōten: 2507 W Armitage Ave, Chicago, IL 60647 #Sushi #Omakase #WeekendEats #JapaneseCuisine #Chicago #ChicagoEats
