La Fortuna Adventure ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ๐Ÿฆฅ

Three of us continued our journey! On the third day, we took a Jeep-boat-jeep trip to La Fortuna. It cost $30 per person in cash, booked directly at the hotel. The pickup was around 7:40 AM. We took a minibus to a rest stop by the lake, then a boat across the lake, and finally another minibus to town. We arrived around 11 AM. The lake, by the way, holds a village destroyed by a volcanic eruption (well, it's actually an artificial lake expanded for hydroelectric projects, no horror stories involved) โ˜ ๏ธ. In the afternoon, we went to see sloths for $35 per person at the Bogarin Trail. The trail guide was an old man (or was it his brother?) who planted this forest over 20 years ago. One day, a sloth family quietly moved in, and their life of being observed began. The old man was a hilarious deadpan, often telling jokes with a straight face. He had me rub my hands in a flower and smell them, then taught me how to scare neighbors with tree leaves. ๐Ÿ˜… In any case, we finished the trail in a bit of chaos. In summary, ๐Ÿถ was delighted to see the Red-eyed Tree Frog. We also asked many questions that left the old man flustered... We ended the night at the hot springs โ™จ๏ธ. On the fourth day, we attempted the volcano trail (it was too hot ๐Ÿฆฅ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ and we both gave up, hilarious). ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป According to locals, we went to Mirador el Silencio for $10 per person instead of the volcano national park. The trail started at a pond with many tadpoles (including babies of the Red-eyed Tree Frog). The loop was longer than the cloud forest trail, and with the hot weather, bring at least 35 oz of water. The trail connects with Lava 1968, allowing you to walk on former volcanic rocks. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป If you don't want to hike but still want to see the volcano and lake, you can go to Lava 68 cafeteria for a 360-degree and eat for $7 per person. Or if you only want the volcano trail, you can choose their $25 per person ๐Ÿ“Arenal Volcano View and Lava Trail. After the hike, we went to the hot springs again โ™จ๏ธ. On the fifth day, ๐Ÿถ went rafting, and ๐Ÿฆฅ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ went ATVing. In the afternoon, we gathered and went to the hot springs once more (just keep copying and pasting, that's right) โ™จ๏ธ. On the sixth day, we visited La Fortuna Waterfall (one of our friends decided to sleep in; guess who). Please, all water lovers, do get in the water!! Playing under the cool waterfall in the hot weather is really enjoyable! If you have time, you can also bring food and drinks and hang out in the water, chatting. In the afternoon, we took a bus back to San Jose ($53 per person) and flew home. #Nature #HikingToWaterfalls #NatureAndFood #CostaRicaTravel #LaFortuna
