Mario’s Italian Ristorante – A Family-Owned Gem in Charleston 🍝

It’s not every day a restaurant remembers you six months later – but that’s exactly what happened at Mario’s Italian Ristorante! My first visit was pure chance – another spot was fully booked, and a friendly grandpa at the door invited us in. We’ve been smiling (and eating) here ever since. 🍤 Appetizer: Frittura di Calamari Fresh, tender squid, lightly fried and generously portioned. Served with classic marinara, but I preferred it without – the sauce was a bit too tangy and masked the delicate flavor of the calamari. 🍝 Mains Linguine Frutti di Mare – Loaded with mussels, squid, and shrimp in a light tomato broth. Bright, seafood-forward, and satisfying. Spaghetti Carbonara – Creamy, rich, and indulgent… though I was surprised to find cream in the recipe! (Turns out, many restaurants add it to stabilize the sauce.) They also use pancetta instead of guanciale. Delicious, but heavy – best for sharing! 🥖 Complimentary Bread The bread isn’t house-baked, and it sometimes runs out – but it’s a nice touch when available. 🧡 Why We’ll Be Back Warm service, cozy atmosphere, and hearty Italian classics. Not “perfectly traditional,” but full of flavor and heart. We’d love your recommendations for other Italian spots in Charleston too! 📍 Address: 487 King St, Charleston, SC 29403 #MariosItalian #CharlestonEats #ItalianFood #FamilyOwned #ComfortFood #PastaLover #CharlestonRestaurants #CozyVibes #EatLikeALocal
