Milli by Metric|A Bakery Worth Braving -20°F For ❄️🥐

In an extreme cold snap — Chicago at -20°F, feels like -35°F. On a morning like this… Woke up at 6:30 AM just to taste their Passionfruit Hazelnut Chocolate bun and Caramelized Onion & Maitake Mushroom pastry 🍄🍫. Also tried the Japanese Curry Galette — just as the name describes, straightforward and simple. Nothing special, especially compared to the explosive flavors of the passionfruit laminated bun and the mushroom au gratin. But for $6, it’s fine. I still prefer pastries with layered flavors, a crispy shell, and a soft, chewy inside. ☕ Coffee: Tried two single-origin pour-overs: Colombia (decaf) and Kenya. Surprisingly, both tasted better as they cooled down — flavors emerged more distinctly. Also had hot Americano (exceptionally good) and iced latte (deeply disappointing — tasted like lightly roasted beans drowned in milk, barely any coffee aroma 🥛😢). Next time, I want to try their chocolate croissant and that huge loaf of bread that’s caught my curiosity 🍞👀. PS: The interior is perfect for solo work or studying — very introvert-friendly. The vibe is hard to describe but deeply calming and satisfying. Definitely coming back. ❤️ #ChicagoEats #ChicagoBakery #MilliByMetric #WinterFoodie #ChicagoLife #StudySpot
