Mirazur⭐⭐⭐ Anniversary Celebration Menu
Before embarking on my South of France journey, I received a notification from Mirazur that my reservation coincided with their anniversary celebration. They mentioned a special anniversary menu, which piqued my curiosity and anticipation. 🧅 Food 7.5/10 The surprise menu was themed around root vegetables, with each dish featuring a unique pairing of root vegetables and complementary ingredients. Five amuse-bouche dishes kicked off the meal, with the onions' sweetness and spiciness elevated to their utmost potential. Two types of bread were served throughout the meal, ensuring we were well-fed. However, the bread itself was rather bland, while the accompanying olive oil and butter were more memorable. Here are my top 3 dishes of the day: 1️⃣ Beetroot with Caviar - A classic combination of sweet and salty, the creaminess of the caviar and butter highlights the sweetness of the beetroot. The sommelier's unexpected pairing of Pinot Noir, with its floral notes and subtle tannins, brought the dish together seamlessly. 2️⃣ Peanut Butter Puff - I packed the leftovers because they were simply irresistible. Simple yet delicious! 3️⃣ Turmeric with Scampi - A new spring dish, the turmeric-based sauce paired with fresh fava beans creates a rich yet refreshing flavor. The lightly seasoned scampi adds a unique twist, and the pairing with Château d'Yquem added another dimension to the dish. While Mirazur didn't quite achieve a flavor sensation, it was evident that the chef aimed to highlight root vegetables as the theme, complementing them with other ingredients. Whether as a main course or a side dish, the menu encouraged diners to explore new possibilities. 🍷 Wine 9/10 The wine pairing at the highest tier was only 350 euros, which is incredibly reasonable! To have access to wines like Coche-Dury, Château d'Yquem, and Vatan at this price is truly a delight. The sommelier's unconventional pairing approach, featuring sake, dessert wines, champagne, and red and white wines in no particular order, was entirely focused on enhancing the flavors of the dishes. The only deduction is that the wine list could benefit from more depth, especially for a South of France establishment. A few bottles of Château Rayas would have been a nice touch. Ambiance 9/10 With the picturesque town of Menton perched on the azure Mediterranean Sea outside the window, it felt like stepping into a Monet painting. Watching the shimmering sea and the passing trains was a delightful experience. 📍 Mirazur #FrenchCuisine #NiceTravel #MentonTravel #NiceFoodieSpots #FrenchMichelinThreeStars #SouthofFranceVacation #SouthofFranceRestaurant
