Mitsuwa in Chicago’s Northern Suburbs — So Delicious! 🛒
I used to visit Mitsuwa all the time in California — only recently found out Chicago has one too! It’s a trek from downtown (~45 min), but totally worth it. Here’s what we tasted — for your reference! What We Ate 🤤 🍛 Pork Cutlet Curry (No. 40 Combo) Almost everyone in line ordered this! Huge portion — crispy tonkatsu with rich, flavorful curry. A must‑try. 🍗 Karaage + Fried Oysters From the same tonkatsu shop — juicy, tender fried chicken. Oysters are best hot and fresh. 🍤 Tempura (Korokke, Pumpkin, Shrimp, Fish) Korokke (croquette) is recommended — savory‑sweet mashed potato filling. All tempura is great fresh, but can soften if it sits. 🐟 Broiled Salmon Bought inside the supermarket — super fresh, well‑marinated, perfect with drinks. 🐙 Takoyaki Big pieces with generous octopus filling — soft batter, very filling. 🍢 Yakitori (Chicken, Chicken Skin, Chicken Meatball) Must‑order! Chicken skin is crispy and flavorful, all meats are tender, and the meatball with teriyaki sauce is incredible. 🧇 Crepe (Oreo) Huge crepe with soft skin and vanilla ice cream — so big we couldn’t finish it. Key Details 📍 🍴 Place: Mitsuwa Marketplace 📍 Address: 100 E Algonquin Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60005 💰 Price: ~$30 per person (enough to be stuffed!). Mitsuwa is a fantastic experience — so many choices (rice bowls, sushi, skewers, desserts — we missed the ramen!). Prices are reasonable, and you can sample a bit of everything. Only downside: weekends are packed — be ready to hunt for seats and wait in lines. What else do you recommend at Mitsuwa?
