Montreal➡️Burlington Day Trip 🚗

Montreal➡️Burlington Day Trip 🚗 Took advantage of the holiday for a day trip to the US! Vermont is probably the closest American state to Montreal—less than a 2-hour drive. Super easy to just pick up and go~ 🌍 🛂 Border Entry: Friendly Officers + Lots of Questions It took an hour and a half to get through customs on the way there, but the officers were really friendly~ 😊 First, they asked about our accommodation, US destination, and how long we’d stay, then sent us to get fingerprints. During the second round of questions, we just said “day trip,” and when she asked, “Why Burlington specifically?” I told her, “A friend went several times and insisted I come!” She laughed right away. Maybe because my husband and I had 5-year visas but had never been to the US, she kept asking, “Is this your first time?” I nodded, “Yep, first time for us! Our daughter’s been twice before~” She said she knew, then stamped our passports, took the fee, and let us through. A little nerve-wracking, but smooth overall~ ✅ 🗺️ Day Trip Highlights Checked out the University of Vermont College of Medicine—gorgeous vintage buildings, perfect for photos~ 🏛️ Wandered Church Street—cute shops everywhere, great for a leisurely stroll~ 🛍️ Hit Trader Joe’s and Costco for some shopping! 🛒 The biggest surprise? US gas prices! Only $3.1 a gallon, almost half the price of Montreal’s roughly $1.6 per liter. Filling up the tank felt like a win~ 🚗💨 🍽️ Highly Recommend! Grand Buffet If you love buffets, this place is a must! Only $16.99 for adults, even on weekends—unbeatable value~ 👍 Fresh ingredients, delicious flavors (great for Chinese taste buds), and tons of seafood. Shrimp, crab legs… you can eat your fill in no time. The address is in the last photo, save it~ 🦞 🚗 Return Border: Done in 20 Minutes Coming back was so fast! The officer just checked our (Maple Leaf Cards) and asked, “When did you enter the US?” I said, “This morning~” Then, “Did you buy anything?” I was about to grab my Costco receipt, but he just asked, “Over $200?” I said, “Around $100~” He handed back our cards and let us go. From line to exit, less than 20 minutes—unbelievably smooth~ 😎 It was a bit cold today, but I’m already looking forward to warmer weather~ We could easily do day trips to the US for shopping, since Costco stuff is really cheaper than in Canada. Feels like a waste not to go! Can’t wait to come back~ 💕 #DayTrip#TravelMoments#Travel#WeekendGetaway#My2023TravelStory#TravelDiary#Vermont#UniversityOfVermont#Burlington
