Must-Try Japanese BBQ in Downtown Chicago 🍖

Recently discovered this gem of a Japanese BBQ spot — right on the Magnificent Mile in downtown! Saved it up and finally sharing — been multiple times and every visit has been consistently great!! I always go in the evening when it's busier, so reservations are recommended. I also noticed they have weekday lunch specials — supposedly under $20 for multiple meat plates?! If you've tried it, let me know in the comments if it's worth it 🥹 So jealous of those who live nearby!! What I love: they serve appetizers quickly, and the BBQ + fried rice arrives just as you're halfway through the starters — no long waits, perfect for someone like me who can't stand an idle mouth 😋 I always order the Meat Lovers Set ($90) — such great value! Portions are generous; for two people, there might even be leftovers. Once I went with two other girls and it was just right — $30 per person 🤑. The appetizer fried chicken is surprisingly delicious — no matter who I bring, we finish it clean every time 😋 The BBQ meat quality is excellent — this set includes 6 plates with both pork and beef! 💡 Pro tip: Order a bowl of scallion sauce — it gives each meat an extra flavor dimension, and the sesame oil in it makes it super fragrant! Also highly recommend upgrading the plain rice to stone pot beef fried rice — the server mixes it right at your table, so aromatic! 📍 Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFood #JapaneseBBQ #ChicagoRestaurants #MagnificentMile #FoodieFinds
