My Best Intentions — Chicago's Humble Neighborhood Bar 🍻

After posting over a dozen updates this month — each a small nod to the city's glow — it feels fitting to close with another North America’s Top 50 Bar: Best Intentions. The name kind of mirrors why I write these: no grand promises, no guarantee of the “best” experience, just… good intentions. That’s enough. Housed in an old building, the bar is cozy and small. Fairy lights hang in the yard, the wind blows gently, and you can hear cars passing at the street corner, followed by faint crickets chirping.💕😁 The front area feels like an old arcade — raw yet warm, as I mentioned when writing about Avec. The bar rail is a bit chipped, but the arcade machine in the corner still glows. Complaining about a lack of complexity in a drink under $10 would be nitpicking. The Wondermint Malted is a Midwest staple, and the $5 Angostura bitters shot is cheaper than drinking at home.❤️😘 Even the burrata with Lao Gan Ma feels unexpectedly down-to-earth.👍 Most folks here are regulars. As I was leaving, I heard a girl shout "love you" to her friends, then turn to the bartender Chris with another "love you", and finally, toward us newcomers at the bar: "love you all".
