My Go-To Japanese Restaurant in Chicago’s North Suburbs

They have private rooms, but only for groups of 4+. Around 6–7 PM there might be a short wait (around 15 minutes). My favorites: 🐮 Beef Tataki – Refreshing and perfectly seasoned. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🍜 Tonkotsu Ramen – Rich, flavorful broth. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🍝 Japanese-style Pasta – Ultimate comfort food! Add egg and cheese powder — absolutely amazing. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🥘 Stir-fried dishes were just okay. ⭐⭐⭐ 🥩 Japanese-style Steak – Huge portion, tasty, but I still prefer American-style steak (maybe I can cook it better myself 😅). ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Definitely coming back! 🏮 Daruma Restaurant 📍 1823 W Golf Rd, Schaumburg, IL 60194 Other Japanese spots I’ve tried around Chicago: 🐟 Lawrence Fish Market – Affordable, fresh, generous sashimi. Go-to for raw fish cravings. 🍣 Chicago Sushi – Tried their uni chirashi — good value but fish wasn’t the freshest. 🍱 Torizen – Similar to Daruma but not as good (for me). Maybe I ordered wrong — recommendations welcome! 🏡 Sozai Banzai – Cozy family-style spot, but daily specials often sell out early. 🍚 Kurumaya – Between family-style and izakaya. Their rice is memorable — shiny, chewy, delicious.
