My Impressions of Jeju Island ✈️
A honest wrap-up of pros, cons, and final thoughts after my trip! ✅ Pros Way fewer crowds than domestic tourist cities: Over three days, I never waited in line for more than an hour. Even downtown feels quiet and unhurried—no pushing through throngs of people. Great value for an international trip: It’s a top pick for first-time overseas travelers. While there are many Chinese tourists, the streets have a unique vibe that’s different from China—nice for a fresh change of scenery. Delicious Korean food: I didn’t follow recommendations; instead, I ate wherever I wandered—and barely had a bad meal! (Note: This is coming from someone who loves Korean food. If you’re not a fan, proceed with caution.) Prices aren’t as high as expected: Daily expenses (food, transport) are more affordable than I thought—no need to break the bank for a comfortable trip. Good deals on skincare, makeup, and streetwear 👔👟: You can find great discounts here. But watch your checked baggage allowance—if you have to pay for extra luggage, it might end up more expensive than buying from a daigou (shopping agent) back home. ❌ Cons Serious attraction homogeneity: Most spots revolve around the sea, with a few photo checkpoints—once you snap your pics, there’s not much else to do. If you’re not into taking photos 🤳, you might find it a bit boring. Scenery is highly weather-dependent: The views vary a lot based on the weather. During my trip, we had mostly cloudy days with a few sunny ones—but even on clear days, I never saw that “super blue jelly sea” everyone talks about. Downtown feels a bit run-down: Some areas gave me a sense of déjà vu (this is just a comparison, not a diss!). A lot of buildings have a 2000s-era Chinese style—think green glass windows and stainless steel door frames. ⭐️ Final Takeaway Jeju offers great value for an international trip, especially if you’re into shopping and Korean food. But if your only goal is to see the sea? Personally, I don’t think it’s strictly necessary—there are equally beautiful coastal spots closer to home. ⭐️ A Note These are my personal takeaways from first-hand experience—just for reference! Travel tastes vary, so I hope everyone has an amazing trip ✈️ #JejuIsland #JejuTravel #JejuFood
