New Orleans' Established Family-Style Restaurant
🍒🍒I’ve Seen "Obama’s Favorite xxx" in Restaurant Bios at Least 4 or 5 Times – Then, for My First Proper Meal in New Orleans, I Looked Up as I Walked In and Saw That Familiar Face Again… He Really Did Eat Out a Lot! But I can’t blame him – Dooky Chase is indeed a long-standing family-style restaurant in NOLA, not far from Treme, America’s oldest African American neighborhood.🍱🍱 (About this area: HBO released a sameTV series last year, and the creative team is from The Wire – one of the best TV shows in history… I’m even planning to subscribe to HBO for it Back to the Restaurant🍍🍍 The dress code requires semi-formal attire, but not as strict as Commander’s Palace or GW Fins. The place is filled with family gatherings and tourists; reservations are recommended for lunch, or you can wait at the bar.🌼 The "Leah" series on the wine list is named after the matriarch of the Chase family.😼 Later, I also saw a more upscale bistro named after her at the airport, with a similar menu. 😊😊I Was Craving Shrimp, So I Ordered Clemenceau and Linguini The shrimp was super fresh – the two dishes had similar ingredients but completely different textures. The highlight was the heaps of minced garlic in both.👉👈 🍐🎼The Clemenceau came with lots of pan-fried baby potatoes, and the mushrooms in it were amazing (too bad there weren’t more). The linguini was literally cooked with half a pound of butter to make a creamy sauce… coating tender, fresh hand-rolled noodles + plump shrimp, green peas, and mushrooms. After eating it, I smelled like cream the whole afternoon 🙉 At a traditional Creole restaurant, you have to try the gumbo🌻🌻 🍊🍊This one uses a spicy sausage base – later, almost all the gumbo I had elsewhere was seafood-based. All in all, after this meal, I breathed a sigh of relief – it finally felt like America has some properly delicious food…🍉🍉 📍 Address: 2301 Orleans Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119, United States #NewOrleansFood #OasisInAFoodDesert #Shrimp #NewOrleansFoodExploration #DailyFood
