Oklahoma City Museum of Art 🎨
After about a 10-minute walk from the National Memorial Museum, we arrived at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. Right at the entrance stands a huge glass artwork by Chihuly—could it be the same one I saw at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts years ago? Or does this museum have its own Chihuly piece? The first piece inside is the sculpture of the Three Shades from Rodin’s Gates of Hell, an enlarged standalone version. So powerful! 😮 At that point, I thought the Oklahoma City Museum of Art had some really impressive works. But then… it turned out there wasn’t much else to see. Then I got excited about the Picasso special exhibition, only to find it was a display showing the color layering process of his prints. There were only three complete prints in total—pretty underwhelming considering Picasso created over 20,000 prints in his lifetime. 😅 Next, we entered a gallery entirely dedicated to Chihuly’s works. That was relatively better, but since I’ve been to the Chihuly Collection and another Chihuly exhibition before, most of the pieces felt repetitive. Overall, the collection at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art isn’t exactly top-tier. 🙃 #CollegeSupport #StudyInUSA #CityExplorer #JustGo #Texas #Houston #Tulsa
