Railway Museum in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago
✨Illinois Railway Museum So many trains to see, both indoors and outdoors! The indoor ones are mostly really old trains, from the 18XXs, with huge locomotives and complex structures, exuding a vintage mechanical beauty. ✨Outdoors, there are some you can climb aboard to experience, like the red snowplow train, which was super futuristic to my uninitiated eyes. There’s also a small train station with about three or four different train models you can ride, going back and forth. The speed is slow, and the distance is short, all about the experience. ✨Seems like a lot of the staff are volunteers, mostly older gentlemen. They probably have a passion for trains and spend their retirement here to pass the time. The adult admission is $18, but there’s no one checking tickets, so you can just walk in. It’s open from 10 am to 5 pm, but it seems like it’s only open on weekends. There might be more open days during the summer vacation, making it a great choice for a day trip. #ChicagoLife #Chicago #Museum #MustVisitMuseum #Trains #Vintage #CulturalSights
