Restaurant Review | Mikami Chicago: A New Japanese Izakaya
đHighly recommended! This is by far my favorite Japanese izakaya in Chicago! The ambiance is cozy, the service is exceptional, and every dish is simply amazing. Signature Ramen: The broth is rich and flavorful, the noodles are perfectly chewy, and the chashu (pork belly) is thick and full of flavor. Side Dishes: The fried crab and skewers are also great. The chicken wings, though not pictured, are incredibly delicious! đSpecial Mention: Their mochi dessert is a standout! Itâs like a black sesame soft-serve ice cream, incredibly smooth and not overly sweet. Iâve never had this combination beforeâitâs truly delightful! đIâve tried their ramen, and the broth is very aromatic without being too heavy. The noodles have just the right amount of chewiness. The seafood udon comes with a whole deep-fried soft-shell crab! đThe fried chicken wings are a pleasant surprise, coated in salted egg yolkâsuper fragrant! The chicken karaage is also good and comes in a generous portion (two people couldnât finish it). For robata, I recommend visiting during the happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m., when each skewer is $2 cheaper. Iâve tried beef wrapped in chili, whole squid, and shrimp paste skewersânone of them disappointed. đThe best part is the dessert. The menu says mochi, and we thought it would be glutinous rice balls, but it turned out to be a big bowl of milk mochi! Itâs served with black sesame powder and osmanthus syrup, giving a great sense of satisfaction. #ChicagoExploration #JapaneseCuisine #ChicagoFood
