This year’s hot new opening in West Loop, Rose Mary, is seriously hard to book. My walk‑in attempt failed, so I reserved a table a month out — and it was worth the wait. Though labeled Croatian, the flavors felt beautifully close to Italian. 🥟 Spinach Cappelletti Filled pasta with fresh cherry tomatoes — tangy, bright, and delicious. 🦑 Crni Rižot (Squid Ink Risotto) (I totally butchered the pronunciation 😂 — just pointed at the menu!). Many places make this too salty or fishy, but Rose Mary’s version was all umami, no funk — deeply savory and satisfying. 🥧 Puff Pastry Dessert Layers of crisp pastry with fresh fruit — a sweet, elegant finish.
