Route 66 Roadtrip Day 3 | Exploring Historic Spots Near Oklahoma City

Today was all about exploring historic Route 66 attractions around Oklahoma City. We visited a bunch of niche, nostalgic spots along the old highway, each with its own little piece of Route 66 historyļ½ž šŸ“ OK County 66 - John's Place This was a total pleasant surprise! A passionate elderly man has collected and created countless Route 66-related items, turning this place into a cozy private museum šŸŗ. The photos only show a corner of the yard—there are even more treasures inside, from vintage posters to old-fashioned decorations. Every piece holds memories of the highway, so it’s definitely worth a visit! ⛽ Historic 66 Gas Station It’s said to be an old gas station from the original Route 66 days. The red brick walls and old fuel pumps give off such a retro vibe šŸ“œ. However, since it’s so old, the specific historical details seem unprovable. But taking photos here still lets you feel the charm of the old highway, so it was still a great stop! šŸ›ļø Arcadia Round Barn This iconic round barn is over 100 years old! Now it’s been renovated into a multi-purpose space— the first floor has a small museum and a gift shop (perfect for picking up Route 66 souvenirs), while the second floor is a spacious area that can host events. The best part is the small stage in the middle—standing on it makes you feel like a superstar ✨, and I couldn’t help but imagine a little highway concert here! 🄤 Pops 66 This is a popular spot that’s part cafĆ©, part store! Its signature is a huge variety of glass-bottle sodas (they also have beer). Both walls are covered with these glass-bottle drinks as decorations—they’re so colorful and spectacular, it’s a total visual feast 🌈. We bought two bottles as souvenirs; they make great mementos of our road trip! šŸŒ™ Evening Drive to Amarillo, TX In the evening, we drove to Amarillo, Texas to stay for the night. We had plenty of time during the day, so we also wandered around Oklahoma City a bit. There’s a nice-looking monument downtown, but I didn’t get to learn the story behind it (a small regret). We also visited the zoo—and surprisingly saw a gorilla poo! šŸ˜‚ The scene was so hilarious, it became an unexpected funny moment of the trip! #USATravel #Route66 #SelfDrivingTrip #RoadTrip #Route66RoadTrip #Oklahoma
