Runny Ube Burger โ€” A Taste of the Philippines ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ’œ

I first wrote about Kathyโ€™s A Taste of the Philippines when it was just a stall in the French Market. Her story is truly inspiring: born in Manila, moved to the US in โ€™92, worked as an accountant before discovering her passion for cooking โ€” starting with a food truck, then a market stall, and now her own little restaurant! ๐Ÿ” Runny Yolk Longanisa Breakfast Sandwich โ€“ A new menu item since the food hall days! Stuffed with sweet Filipino sausage (more generous and authentic than Kasamaโ€™s) and melty cheese. For a little extra, upgrade to the purple ube bun โ€” so worth it. This bun alone could sell as ube pandesal. Highly recommend! ๐Ÿ” Breakfast Lumpia โ€“ Classic lumpia, but with an AM twist: filled with egg, cheese, and ham. ๐Ÿ” Pandan Latte โ€“ A bit too sweet for me, tasted more like vanilla latte โ€” order with caution if you prefer less sugar. ๐Ÿ  Ube Donut โ€“ An OG menu item, but leans American-style sweet. Kathy herself is warm and helpful โ€” if youโ€™re undecided, sheโ€™ll gladly recommend something. Right now hours are limited (she heads home to care for her kids), but may expand later. ๐Ÿ“ A Taste of the Philippines 5914 W Lawrence Ave, Chicago, IL 60630 #ATasteOfThePhilippines #FilipinoFood #UbeBun #Longanisa #RunnyEgg #ChicagoEats
