San Carlos Beach | Watching the Sea Lions Lounge

🦭😆🌊Today we walked from Old Fisherman’s Wharf along the pedestrian and bike path to San Carlos Beach. Although the news had reported huge gatherings of sea lions, today wasn’t the peak—but there were still plenty piled together on the platforms! 🏖️👀 As soon as you get close to the beach, the smell hits you—a strong, fishy odor—and the noise is nonstop. They might be stinky and loud, but I still find them utterly charming. Maybe the only creature I can say that about! 😂❤️ That distinct smell, mixed with the scent of kelp washing ashore, reminded me of the dried seaweed snacks I loved as a kid. Really brought to life that old slogan: “The taste of the ocean—I know it well.” 🌊🍘 And check out—you can see a little head popping out of the water! 🥹 I didn’t manage to film it, but watching them swim so quietly and gracefully was just mesmerizing. #US#CA #Monterey
