Seattle with Kids | Free Animal Petting and Hiking in Redmond
After the last recommended free wonderland for kids, Flower World, I’ve discovered another fantastic spot for family fun - Farrel-McWhirter Park 😍. Not only can you pet animals for free, but you can also hike trails, and if planned well, you can join the park’s organized activities interacting with farm animals. It’s just a 10-minute drive from Redmond downtown. Animal Feeding. In the farm area of the park, little ones can get up close with various animals: sheep, horses, chickens, and rabbits. The entire experience is completely free, with no entrance fee or any purchase required. Family Activities. The park regularly organizes enriching activities to interact with the animals. There are horse riding activities, for example. More interestingly, as shearing season approaches, the park hosts a live demonstration event from “Wool to Shawl” from May to August, with each month showcasing the processes of shearing, spinning, dyeing, and weaving. On August 4th at 10 am, the weaving process will be demonstrated 🤩. Hiking. There are several trails within the park connecting various activity areas, perfect for a family stroll. The trail is lined with lush trees and babbling brooks, crossing little bridges, making it feel like a magical oasis straight out of a fairy tale. It’s hard to believe that this is less than a 10-minute drive from Redmond downtown! 🅿️ Parking: The park has two free parking lots, one on the north and one on the south. Each parking lot has plenty of spaces. Parking is convenient whether it’s a weekday or weekend. #GreatPlacesToTakeKids #Nature #WeekendGetaways #WeekendSpots #BeautifulHikingScenery #HikingHealsMe #SeattleDaily #SeattleWeekend #SeattleSurroundings #SeattleKidsFun
