Small Cheval Opens at Former “The Freeze” Location in Logan Square
Chicagoans were heartbroken when beloved ice cream spot The Freeze closed in 2023 after 73 years in Logan Square—but a favorite local chain is reimagining the space and carrying on its legacy. Small Cheval has officially opened at 2815 W Armitage Ave, taking over the former home of The Freeze and repurposing parts of the original facade. The Freeze’s sign is here to stay --------------------------------- The popular fast-casual burger offshoot of Au Cheval has maintained The Freeze’s iconic sign and a portion of the original exterior, while adding an outdoor patio . Food-wise, guests can expect Small Cheval’s signature selection of burgers, fries, fried chicken , along with cocktails and beers. The restaurant is also carrying on The Freeze’s ice cream legacy with dipped cones, shakes, and “concretes” in a variety of flavors. Small Cheval Logan Square is now open daily from 3pm – 10pm.
