So, What to Eat Tomorrow? | French Cuisine in Chicago 🇫🇷🍽️
Caught the last wave of Chicago Restaurant Week while visiting the auto show and decided to try this French spot! The Restaurant Week menu is a three-course meal for $60 per person. They also have a daily happy hour with great deals on oysters and beer 🍻. First Course: 🥩 Beef Tartare – Well-seasoned, not overly gamey, served with warm crispy potato chips (though the chips were a bit salty). 🦞 Seafood Platter – Oysters were fresh and plump, super smooth going down 🦪. The crab legs were sweet and delicious — definitely the highlight! The shrimp were just okay. Second Course: 🍖 Boeuf Bourguignon – Tender and fall-apart soft, but the sauce had a strong balsamic vinegar note that made it quite tangy… reminded me of a “special local dish” I once had in Southern France 🥴. Let’s just say both were… unique. 🐟 Sea Bass – Tasty but not mind-blowing. (Bonus: plates were served warm — nice touch!) Third Course: 🍮 Soufflé – Rich egg flavor with a hint of lemon, though served in a simple dish that felt a bit lazy presentation-wise. 🍮 Crème Brûlée – Thick caramelized top, perfectly torched, with visible vanilla beans inside. Also had a lemon note — guessing they share a base recipe with the soufflé. Service was a bit fast-paced, but given downtown Chicago parking prices ⏳💸, maybe that’s not a bad thing! As my only Restaurant Week visit this year, it was a pleasant experience. Would love to come back for happy hour and explore more! 📍 Venteux #100RestaurantsChallenge #FrenchCuisine #StudentEats #FoodieAbroad
