Stone Mountain: A First-Timer’s (Accidentally Free?) Adventure

After visiting the Atlanta Zoo, we headed over to Stone Mountain—completely new to us! Little did we know that besides the parking fee, we’d also need an activity wristband to explore the park fully. 😅 We ended up driving right into what turned out to be a staff and service entrance, somehow bypassing the main ticket area. 🤔 We even asked a few workers along the way where to go, and they kindly pointed us forward—unaware we hadn’t purchased tickets yet! Confidently, we walked up to the train ticket booth ready to hop aboard… only for the attendant to ask, “Do you have your wristbands?” We froze. 😳 After an awkward but friendly exchange, we realized our mistake. Following the giant dinosaur footprints on the ground (which felt oddly fitting 🦕👣), we made our way to the main gate, bought our tickets, and officially entered. Despite the mix-up, the park was beautiful—lush trails, sweeping views, and lots of family-friendly activities. Lesson learned: always check the ticketing details before visiting a new park! Still, a funny story to look back on. 😄 #StoneMountain #AtlantaAdventures #TravelOops #FirstTimeVisitor #GeorgiaParks #FamilyTravel #OutdoorFun
