The Colorful Symmetrical "Castle" | Oklahoma State Capitol 👢

I’d read online that this place is incredibly photogenic—but I couldn’t help wondering, how photogenic could it really be? Once I stepped inside, though, I was blown away‼️ 📸 Can’t-Miss Architectural Highlights Neoclassical Design with Greek-Roman Influences: Timeless and grand, blending classic architectural styles seamlessly. 56-Meter-High Dome: Dominates the interior, drawing the eye upward the moment you enter. Hand-Painted Colorful Murals: Vibrant and detailed, adding a playful, artistic touch to the historic space 🎨. Full-Surround Marble Interiors: Sleek and elegant, giving the building a luxurious, polished feel. Perfectly Symmetrical Layout: Every corner feels balanced—my camera couldn’t stop clicking! If Austin’s State Capitol leans into a "political vibe," this one is all about an "artistic vibe" ✨. On the first floor, there’s even a dedicated exhibit hall tracing the building’s history: construction began in 1914, it opened in 1917, and it underwent renovations in 2002 📜. Look closely, and you’ll spot plenty of motifs throughout the building (inside and out) that nod to Oklahoma’s identity: Indigenous American symbols Cotton (a key historical crop) Cowboy elements (Fun fact: Oklahoma has the largest Indigenous American population of any U.S. state!) 🤠 The most fascinating detail? This Capitol is actually built on top of an oil well—and there are said to be many more oil wells around the area! If you’re curious, do some research into the state’s history to learn more 🛢️. Every area (even the office sections!) is interesting to explore. And here’s a quirky touch: the elevator floor indicators are designed to look like old-fashioned clocks ⏰. There’s also a small snack bar on the first floor selling sandwiches, snacks, and drinks—perfect for a quick break! #OklahomaState #StateCapitol #TravelSnippets #UniqueArchitecture #LandmarkBuilding #USTravelGuide #ArchitecturalAesthetics #TravelRecommender #NoOneWatchesAnyway #GrowFollowers
