The Purple Pig | What to Eat on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile 🐷

Tucked inside a building on the Magnificent Mile, this Michelin-recommended Mediterranean spot is affordable and wildly popular. The food overall is pretty solid—here’s my review in order of what we ordered: Snacks: Crispy Pig's Ear 🌟🌟🌟 – Deep-fried until crispy and lightly salted, served over equally crispy kale, topped with two runny eggs. Perfect with drinks!😂👌 Vegetables: Mushroom 3 Ways – A signature dish: grilled mushrooms + pork mushroom sauce + black truffle mushroom purée, with red onion and tangy sauce. Honestly didn’t get why it’s so famous. Seafood: Octopus 🌟🌟🌟 – Ordered it twice! Thick, tender grilled octopus leg with oily, fragrant baby potatoes and a tasty sauce. Scallops – Two mushrooms sandwiching a scallop, served with cheese sauce and black truffle mushroom purée. The scallop wasn’t very springy and the flavor was just okay—not worth it. Pasta: Seafood Risotto 🌟🌟🌟 – Another repeat order! Every grain of rice and piece of seafood coated in rich, cheesy sauce. Generous seafood portions—great for sharing. Meat: Half Duck 🌟🌟🌟 – Despite the name “Purple Pig,” this duck is the must-order signature. Crispy skin glazed in sweet-sour sauce, tender juicy meat, served with Greek yogurt to cut the richness. Beef Short Ribs 🌟 – Fall-off-the-bone tender beef short ribs with smooth mashed potatoes and black truffle sauce. Pretty good.😊😁 Dessert: Tiramisu 🌟🌟 – Surprisingly not too sweet! A great dessert aside from the weird cookie on top. Cocktails: Pomelo Sour 🌟🌟 – Refreshing and tasty. Jungle Bird 🌟🌟🌟 – A sweet, easy-drinking cocktail (no photo). ✨ If you’re shopping around the Magnificent Mile, it’s worth a stop. Since it’s super popular, reserve ahead (always packed when I go). ✨ The vibe is lively but tables are close together—can get noisy. Better for group hangouts than quiet dates. ✨ Portions are huge—I always leave stuffed. Around $60–80 per person. #Chicago #ChicagoEats #MediterraneanFood #ChicagoFoodie #StudentEats #MichelinPick
