The Real “Bear’s Restaurant” in Chicago — Honeybear Cafe 🐻🍯
Clickbait alert! It really is a bear-themed restaurant — just not the one from the hit TV show. Located in the north side of Chicago, this spot is a hugely popular American brunch choice. There’s almost always a long line outside, so reservations are recommended — walk-ins can wait 2+ hours. 🐻 Named Honeybear, so of course drinks come topped with teddy bear cookies! We tried the hot chocolate and marshmallow latte — both generously loaded with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. Every sip was deliciously sinful. 🐻 Every guest gets a complimentary bite of cheesecake before ordering — like being treated like a little piggy in the best way 🐷❤️ 🐻 Strawberry French Toast and Toffee French Toast The toffee was a bit too sweet for me, but the strawberry version was perfect — tangy marinated strawberries mixed with cream and syrup, served on thick, pillow-soft briache toast with rich eggy flavor. Portions are massive (hard to tell from photos) — we had to take leftovers home! 🐻 If you can’t decide, try the French Toast Flight — a sampler of classic flavors. Don’t think it’s smaller — it’s the same huge portion, just with three delicious toppings. The food is definitely American-style — avoid overly sweet options if that’s not your thing. Fruit-based dishes are hearty and satisfying. Honestly, I prefer this over many trendy downtown spots — better flavor and better value. What I love most: the cafe has a little pantry in the back offering free food to those in need.
