The South of France breeze finally reached Chicago—La Serre 🇫🇷✨
Kept seeing Fulton Market’s new French-Mediterranean spot La Serre all over IG, so I grabbed a friend and went to check it out. 🌸 : The restaurant’s decor. Beyond the IG filters, there are a lot of artificial flowers—giving a kind of “fancy-cheesy” vibe (😅). 🌸 N/A French 94 – Refreshing citrus notes with a hint of bitterness. 🌸 Complimentary warm bread with butter and olive tapenade—salty and slightly spicy, perfect with the bread. 🌸 Crab fritter & duck puffs. A bit pricey for appetizers—the crab was overly salty, but the duck puff (filled with rich confit and silky foie gras) had a sweet finish—worth trying. 🌸 Angel hair pasta + 50g caviar in a lemon crème fraîche sauce. Creamy, tangy, and briny—so delicious! The caviar portion was generous—almost too much. We mentioned it, and they gave us an extra pasta serving for free! 🌸Signature charcoal-grilled duck served with crepes and salad. You can wrap it with spicy sauce. The duck was tender, but the skin wasn’t crispy. The sriracha-based sauce felt oddly paired with French-style duck. Not bad, just overpriced for what it was. 🌸 Caramelized brioche toast recommended by the server. Soft, milk-soaked toast with brown sugar-cinnamon ice cream (cinnamon was mild). The cookie crumbs on top were too sweet—like eating sugar crystals. Overall, every dish was tasty, but it felt a bit try-hard—lacking genuine French or Mediterranean character. Still worth a visit though! We even spotted former Mayor Lori Lightfoot dining nearby—so you know the place has some credibility. 😄 📍 La Serre 307 N Green St, Chicago, IL 60607 #SummerFoodieCat 🐱 #GlobalFoodies #ChicagoLife #HiddenGem #ChicagoEats #FoodDiary
