Stop 1️⃣: Houston, Texas 🚀 Right after landing and picking up our rental car, we drove directly to the NASA Johnson Space Center. Since it's located quite a distance from downtown, we wanted to tackle it first. The scale of the rockets is absolutely awe-inspiring—standing next to them is a humbling experience that truly highlights how small we are in the vastness of space! 🍔 After exploring NASA, make sure to drive just 6 minutes to the nearby McDonald's to snap a photo with the iconic astronaut holding fries! After our space adventure, we headed back toward the city. ⛲️ Hermann Park was our next stop, and it was utterly delightful! However, our meal ran longer than expected. While we were still on the highway, the fireworks display began overhead. What happened next was pure, unforgettable Texas magic: the two right lanes of the highway full of drivers put on their hazard lights and came to a stop to watch the show! Only in Texas, folks. It was a truly unique experience, made possible by the noticeable absence of patrol cars that night. An incredible, spontaneous moment we'll never forget! Stop 2️⃣: San Antonio, Texas Our San Antonio adventure took us just outside the city to two incredible natural attractions located right next to each other. 🦌 First, we visited the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, a fantastic drive-thru safari. At the entrance, you can buy a bag of feed for about $5. As you drive through the preserve, animals like zebras, giraffes, and deer will come right up to your window to eat from your hand—it's an absolute blast! If you're not comfortable with close animal encounters, you can simply enjoy watching them from the comfort of your car. 🦇 Right next door is the Natural Bridge Caverns. Several guided tour options are available, taking you deep underground into breathtaking limestone formations. Descending further and further, you can't help but marvel at the immense, hidden world beneath your feet. The most magical moment is when the guides turn off the lights, plunging you into total darkness, only to suddenly illuminate a massive, cathedral-like chamber—it's stunningly beautiful! 📍 These two attractions are located at: 26495 Natural Bridge Caverns Rd, San Antonio, TX 78266. Visiting both the wildlife ranch and the caverns takes about half a day. If your schedule allows and you love nature and unique experiences, I highly recommend this double feature! It was a perfect way to experience the Hill Country's natural wonders.
