This New Late-Night Spot In Logan Square Is Reimagining Coastal Italian Drinking Culture With Midwestern Roots—And The Drinks Start At $10
If you’ve ever stepped foot into Daisies, you’ll be immediately drawn to the rustic aesthetic, the sweet aroma of pastries, and the silky texture of fresh handcrafted pasta. However, reservations can be hard to come by—and honestly, we can hardly blame them; Daisies is that good. Now, we have something to look forward to—a new spot that is destined to be just as amazing. The team behind Daisies is opening a late-night cocktail bar and restaurant where coastal Italian drinking culture meets Midwestern traditions. Meet Chicago’s new late-night spot: The Radicle ----------------------------------------------- Logan Square at 2523 N. Milwaukee Avenue. Owner and Executive Chef Joe Frillman brings the same thoughtful cooking approach that has characterized Daisies. The menu highlights flavors from the Great Lakes region and is influenced by close relationships with local growers , including Frillman’s brother Tim, who has a 30-acre farm near St. Joseph, Michigan. With hours extending until 1 AM most nights and up to 2 AM on Saturdays, The Radicle is perfect for those who love a late-night. Owner and Executive Chef Joe Frillman said: > We want to be a great spot for everyone, but we’re particularly excited to be a place where the neighborhood can stop by, or where industry folks can hang out after a shift. The Radicle boasts a fresh look, designed by the local firm Debaun Studio, and an impressive drink menu. There is an entire section dedicated to cocktails priced at $10 each. > We also recognize how expensive things have gotten, so we’re aiming to offer $10 drinks and affordable wines by the glass at prices that are hard to beat these days. The return of the $10 Cocktail ------------------------------ Notable cocktail offerings include the Mistaken for a Lover , a balanced Lambrusco-based spritz with wild rose tea, strawberries, and Campari. The Columba, a bright and bitter cocktail made with Mijenta Blanco, Suze, Mommenpop, and double fermented grapefruit. And the non-alcoholic Italian Fizz, crafted with raspberries, fresh herbs, and fermented whey. The menu features freshly shucked oysters, a “cold” section that includes shrimp with a zingy mustard remoulade, smoked mackerel served with tonnato on pumpernickel, deviled eggs topped with trout roe, and crab dip with Ritz crackers—a nostalgic nod to Frillman’s childhood. There’s also a selection of “hot” snacks and small plates, such as Olive All’ascolana (fried olives stuffed with Italian sausage), fried lake fish with tartar sauce, and chicken wings glazed with Calabrian chili. Vegetable-focused dishes include baby beets with fermented mushroom and celery salad with puntarelle, raisin saor, and sardines. The star of the menu will be pizzas. Featuring options like margherita with house-pulled mozzarella and mushroom topped with unique Italian cheeses. They’ll even have a clam pie with Yukon gold potatoes and garlic—perfectly crafted to pair with the drinks. Also, you’re in for a treat if you have a sweet tooth. The menu will offer housemade ice cream sandwiches and boozy panna cotta created by Daisies’ James Beard-nominated Baker/Partner, Leigh Omil. The bar will quietly soft launch on January 2nd with limited operating hours . The official grand opening is scheduled for Wednesday, January 7th.
