Three-Michelin-Star Smyth — Winter Visit 🌟
Since earning its third star, Smyth’s December bookings exploded. I usually celebrate New Year’s Eve here, so I reached out to the manager directly to secure a table. This year, though, felt a bit disappointing. Many dishes were repeats from past pop-ups or regular menus — missing that special New Year’s surprise. Here are the new(ish) items: 🍴 Salsify + Chopped Oyster + Caviar – Salsify’s flavor mirrors oyster, and caviar lifted it — tasty, but not as thrilling as the warm caviar box from before. 🍴 Smoked Quail Egg + Truffle – A perfect mid-meal bite — burst-in-your-mouth goodness.💕😊 🍴 Aged Duck + Foie Gras Donut – Good, but honestly, Boka’s duck is better. 🍴 Licorice Frozen Yogurt Macaron – More like a thin tart shell. The first one had too much sauce and fell apart in my hand. They brought a second, sauceless version — better, but a three-star spot shouldn’t have plating issues. Overall, the menu felt uncharacteristically safe, and with the extra holiday surcharge, it was a letdown for a regular. I’ll wait for the seasonal refresh. 📍 Smyth 177 N Ada St, Chicago, IL 60607 #SmythChicago #MichelinThreeStar #NYEDinner #ChicagoFineDining #WestLoop
