Three of My Favorite Attractions in Kathmandu

🩵 Buddha Stupa This is my favorite architectural site in Kathmandu. I recommend going up to the platform and walking around it. The eyes on the stupa seem to follow you no matter where you stand. 🩵Bhaktapur Durbar Square The most distant of the three main squares but also the largest and least crowded (my personal favorite; the other two didn't impress me as much). You can wander around in peace and quiet. If you visit here, it's worth taking a detour to Nagarkot to see the Himalayan mountain range (I might post about this later). 🩵Pashupatinath Temple The cremation ghats at the top of the temple are a significant site, where the ceremonies of life's final journey take place. 🩵Cremation Ceremony The bodies, after being cremated, are consigned to the river that eventually flows into the Ganges. I recommend going in the evening when many locals and foreigners gather, making the ritual very impactful. 🩵Monkey Temple True to its name, the temple is home to many monkeys. It's a great spot to watch the sunset and overlook the entire city. And, of course, there are those eyes that seem to observe everything. #Monkey Temple #Pashupatinath Temple#Bhaktapur Durbar Square#Buddha Stupa#Kathmandu#Nepal#Nepal trip#trip diary#travelguide
