Through a Century-Old Chicago Mansion to See an Art Show

Last weekend, I visited the Driehaus Museum in downtown Chicago — and I was completely amazed! This museum is actually the 1883 Nickerson Mansion, and the building itself is a work of art, blending Victorian decorative arts with lavish details. Stepping into the foyer feels like traveling back to the 19th century — stained glass domes, gilded walls, marble fireplaces… every room is breathtakingly ornate. 🖼️ Besides admiring the opulent mansion, there's currently a special exhibition: "Rory McEwen: A New Perspective on Nature". He was a Scottish artist known for his botanical illustrations — leaves, tulips, and later, vegetables and fruits painted with subtle charm. His works are mainly watercolors, without backgrounds or shadows — just a single plant on the canvas. Simple, yet stunningly pure. 🍃 With his brush, he captures the delicate details of plants, inviting viewers to rediscover their vitality and sense of time. The exhibition is quite extensive and rich — worth taking your time to enjoy. 📍 50 E Erie St, Chicago, IL 60611 🎫 Admission: Adult $20 | Senior $15 | Student $10 (exhibition included) 🕰️ Hours: Open Wednesday–Sunday 💡 Exhibition ends: Rory McEwen’s show runs until August 17 — go see it soon! #Chicago #ArtAndLuxury #HistoricMansion #Museum #ArtExhibition #LifeInChicago #LifeInTheUS
