Washington DC|Broadway Musical "Parade" 🪶🎭

📍 The Kennedy Center 📅 August 25th Evening | Duration: 160 minutes ⏰ 8:00 PM Start 9:20 PM Intermission 9:40 PM Second Act 10:40 PM Conclusion 📖 Synopsis: Set in 1913 Georgia, "Parade" tells the tragic true story of Leo Frank, a Jewish factory supervisor in Atlanta accused of murdering 13-year-old Mary Phagan. Driven by anti-Semitic prejudice and public pressure, the trial becomes a spectacle of injustice. Though his wife Lucille fights tirelessly to clear his name—leading to a commutation of his death sentence—an angry mob ultimately takes matters into their own hands. The musical powerfully explores themes of prejudice, injustice, media influence, and enduring love in the face of hatred. 🎟️ I scored a $39 rush ticket—front and center on the first level! With DC’s low 10% tax, it felt like a steal. The same seat would’ve cost a fortune elsewhere 🥱. DC, we love you! 🫶🏼🫶🏼 🏛️ The Kennedy Center itself is breathtaking—a grand national treasure, especially with that gorgeous sunset glow at 7 PM. Big cities really do offer incredible opportunities! ☺️ ✅ Verdict: Definitely recommend! The show is thought-provoking, historically rich, and emotionally gripping—especially the prison picnic dialogue between Leo and Lucille. However, compared to other historically grounded musicals, "Parade" feels slightly subdued. It makes you reflect, but for me, it didn’t evoke a deeper emotional connection. As the final line reminds us: "It is still ongoing." Have you seen "Parade" or other powerful historical musicals? What’s your take?
