This review is for Victura Park at the Reach, a pop-up wine and coffee bar over summer 2020. We went on a Friday at 6:00 p.m. and we're able to order and find a table very easily. They have all of the tables spread out and require masks if you're not eating or drinking. Just outside of the pop-up bar area is a big green hill of the reach where people can picnic as well. You're not allowed to bring in outside beverages, but you can bring in outside food. They only accept credit card. You have to order before you could find a table. It's a better bet to get a bottle of wine for $24 than to get a glass for nine dollars. The pop-up park is baby and toddler friendly. We brought our 18-month-old and we saw a couple with a newborn introducing him to their friends. We went on a date that was very temperate and cool outside, so we were very comfortable. They have umbrellas at most tables which I think would help with the heat, but it would get pretty hot outside. Would...
Read moreThe REACH is a new campus right next to the main Kennedy Center building with the goal of democratizing inspiration. It’s a campus for all people breaking the barriers between the audience and art.
The campus itself is three buildings above ground and a world of theaters, spaces, and classrooms underground. Every element on campus is named after something in JFK’s life. For example, one of the classrooms for children is named Macaroni after Caroline Kennedy’s pet horse. These rooms host local artists offering dance classes, performances, and more.
The designer wants visitors to pay attention to what’s there and what’s not. To that end, there’s lots of open space. Above ground is the largest green roof in the city with gardens and pathways. There’s a cafe and at some point a full service restaurant.
Everywhere you turn will inspire creativity and connection. It’s a beautiful space truly...
Read moreFree movies at the REACH are a great summertime activity! Check the website for movie titles. The screening wall is huge, and the sound is great. It is best to bring a blanket if you plan on being on the lawn. You can bring chairs to sit, but then you would need to sit towards the back. They have some chairs set up in the back for persons with disabilities. It can get really crowded, so it's best to come early. Screening starts promptly at dusk. Drinks and light snacks like chips are available for purchase from inside the Kennedy Center. Brining your own food and drink is probably a better option if you want an actual meal. Can bring dogs, but only if they are accustomed to not reacting in crowds and very...
