Washington DC | Why Georgetown is a Must-Visit in Autumn 🍁
Hey everyone! If you're visiting DC, definitely set aside half a day or a full day for the historic neighborhood of Georgetown. It's especially magical in autumn when the maple leaves are falling and the air is crisp – the place is overflowing with classic charm. 🏰 Georgetown is located in the west of Washington DC and is also home to Georgetown University. I'm sharing a comfortable walking route for exploring GT. After some rain last week, we're back to perfect weather for being outdoors! 🍁 1️⃣ Start with Brunch at "Tatte" A must-try DC brunch spot. Their Traditional Shakshuka (North African eggs with toast) and Croissant Breakfast 🥐 are both delicious – highly recommended! Tatte has multiple locations in DC, including one in Georgetown. However, I prefer the Foggy Bottom branch – it's less crowded, has more spacious outdoor seating, and parking is easier. 2️⃣ Visit Georgetown University The university sits at the west end of Georgetown. It's an open campus and is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit institution of higher learning in the US, known for its strengths in Political Science, International Relations, Law, and more. Its alumni include numerous prominent figures in politics, business, and culture, such as President Bill Clinton, King Felipe VI of Spain, King Abdullah II of Jordan, and China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The iconic Healy Hall, with its towering spires, is the historic main building. 3️⃣ Explore the Charming Streets & Boutiques The Georgetown neighborhood is full of unique, colorful row houses turned into boutique shops – it's a great area for strolling and shopping. You'll find stores like Skims, Cos, Aritzia, and Alice and Olivia. If driving, park near the intersection of M Street and Wisconsin Avenue. For famous sweet treats, try Georgetown Cupcake and Ladurée for macarons. The cupcakes are excellent – I'm not a big sweets person, but I tried the chocolate flavor, and it was rich and delicious. 4️⃣ Stroll the Georgetown Waterfront From the cupcake shop, cross the street to Skims, head down the stairs beside it, and you'll reach the Georgetown Waterfront and Potomac Park. It's very pleasant to walk along the Potomac River. The waterfront is lined with yachts, restaurants, and bars – bustling and lively! However, for seafood or dinner, I'd recommend heading to The Wharf nearby. It's also on the water, has more dining options, and in my opinion, better food. #LifeInNorthAmerica #WashingtonDC #Georgetown #GU #StudentTravel #AutumnOuting #GeorgetownGuide #DCBrunch #DCTravel
