What Pretty but Disappointing Meals Iโve Eaten in Downtown Chicago ๐ฝ๏ธ
(No particular order โ first half of the year edition) Siam Thai Eatery Chicago โ Popular Thai spot across from my office. Dishes suit Chinese taste buds, but the rice is surprisingly bad ๐๐. Maple & Ash โ They prepare a special menu for anniversaries, which is cute! Food is okay, portions are huge โ went mainly for the custom menu. Aba โ Tried their brunch menu. So hard to book, yet so underwhelming โ whoโs hyping this place?? ๐ Itoko โ Realized itโs from the same chef as Momotaroโฆ immediately got worried ๐ฌ. Yep โ not good. Tre Dita โ Roast chicken tastes like old-school fried chicken (in a good way). Everything else is just okay โ views > food. Boka โ Didnโt live up to the hype for me. Rich and heavy โ left feeling stuffed but not wowed. Tak โ How did I miss this when I lived near Nema?? Very authentic and tasty ๐ฅข. Though their nakgop-sae isnโt traditional (uses beef intestine). High Five Ramen โ Just average. Literally only ramen on the menu, and so salty I drank two bottles of water after ๐ฆ. #JustWantToEatGoodFoodBackHome #ChicagoRestaurantLetdowns #PrettyButNotTasty
