What to Do in Yellowknife During the Day - A Guide
☕There's a wall painting in the Yellowknife Visitor Centre. Just go further in from Tim Horton's and you'll find it. 🍉 👉👈shows the address of the visitor centre. At the visitor centre, you can get a "I've been to Yellowknife" certificate. 😚 🌈💨Just go in and tell the staff, and you'll get a certificate and a postcard. 💰💴💵💶💷 😯After getting them, you can ask the staff for cute stamps to put on the postcard before sending it – they're all very helpful🤭. 🦀When you're done, if you're interested, you can ask them to recommend places to visit. Also, the visitor centre has 3D movies 🎦to watch, all for free.🆓 Yellowknife is a wealthy town, and it's not because of tourism – tourism is just a small part of it. 🍃 💐Yellowknife used to have gold mines, and now it has diamond mines. 👉👈 It's the heart of the Northwest Territories. That's what I learned from the visitor centre.🌲 After we left the visitor centre, we walked towards Old Town. There are three places to visit in Old 🎅Town. The Pilot's Monument is the highest point in Yellowknife with a nice view. Right below it is my favorite Bullock Bistro, a fish and chips restaurant.🍜🍝 It's recommended to go there at noon🌞 to avoid long waits. 🌱There's a store that sells Canada Goose products for the entire Yellowknife area. 🍈 When you go in, don't doubt your eyes – you haven't gone to the wrong place. 😭😭 😛The first floor is a general store, the second floor sells clothes, shoes, and winter clothing, and at the back is the Canada🇨🇦 Goose section. The locals here say this is where people in Yellowknife buy their Canada Goose – though maybe that's not the case, haha. 🕊️The prices are really cheap; buying two items can save you hundreds of dollars. When paying, remember to boldly ask if there's a 10% discount. That white-haired foreign guy will tell the cashier lady to give you the discount.📰👀 🌼Search for "welcome to yellowknife sign" or "Bristol Monument"⛰️ to find the place. If you don't join a tour group during the day, it's hard to get there because walking👣 from the hotel or downtown🍞 takes at least 45 minutes to an hour. I just took a taxi – transportation is convenient, and there are taxis🚕 all over downtown. It's only about 15 Canadian dollars from Old Town to downtown. From Old Town to Bristol Monument, it was around Canadian🇨🇦 dollars, if I remember correctly (I forget the exact amount). Just call for a taxi when you want to leave. ✨There's no Uber here, only taxis you can call, and they arrive quickly – within 5-10 minutes for sure. The company I called was City Cab.🎉 👀We sent quite a few postcards – to ourselves, to family, and back to our home country. ❤️ 👍You can buy postcards at any gift 🍆shop, or just send the one you got from the visitor centre. When sending postcards, remember to go to the place – they have polar bear stamps.💊 #Yellowknife #Aurora #TravelDiary
