What to Eat in Downtown Chicago | Walkable Restaurant Reviews ๐Ÿšถ

Just made it to Chicago for Saint Patrickโ€™s Day โ€” never seen so many people dressed in green, so lively! Also caught the famous annual river dyeing ๐Ÿ€. Stayed downtown this time and tried mostly nearby spots (except for Bridge Hot Pot), so a lot of blind picks โ€” not all were amazing, but the standout was Nonnina! ๐ŸŒŸ In no particular order: 1๏ธโƒฃ Cheesecake Factory First time trying it after all these years โ€” and yes, the portions are famously HUGE. So full we didnโ€™t even order cheesecake ๐Ÿ˜… Must-tries: ๐Ÿฅ‘ Avocado Eggrolls (six rolls packed with avocado โ€” so generous!) ๐Ÿค Shrimp and Chicken Gumbo (rich, loaded with meat, super satisfying). Also enjoyed the Warm Crab Dip. Great value and tasty โ€” solid pick! 2๏ธโƒฃ Kyuramen x TBaar Ramen was just okay โ€” passable but not memorable. The chashu was flavorful though. Tried the Tonkatsu Curry Ramen (chef's special) but it was a bit of a miss ๐Ÿ’ฃ. Cute honeycomb-style seating upstairs ๐Ÿ. Heard the omelet rice is good ๐Ÿค” โ€” and the matcha cake is delicious! 3๏ธโƒฃ Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ Tried it before in China โ€” still love it! ๐Ÿ‘ Gyu-Sushi โ€” meat and rice are super fragrant. ๐Ÿ‘ Beef Sukiyaki Bibimbap โ€” sizzling and savory. Lunch special: 3 BBQ meats for $18 โ€” great deal! Skip the Angus Beef Rib (tough and hard to grill), but the Prime Kalbi Short Rib is a win ๐Ÿฅฉ. 4๏ธโƒฃ Nonnina Chicago Italian restaurants really deliver ๐Ÿ! Tried two pastas, a risotto, and an appetizer โ€” no misses. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ Squid Ink Spaghetti ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ Duck Garganelli ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ Torta di Chocolate โ€” rich, gooey chocolate lava cake ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿ“… Reserve on OpenTable! 5๏ธโƒฃ Eataly Actually an Italian marketplace โ€” so fun to explore! But Iโ€™m obsessed with their cakes ๐Ÿฐ. The tiramisu is incredible โ€” tied for first place with Whole Foods in my heart ๐Ÿ’š. Recently tried the pistachio tiramisu โ€” creamy, dreamy, and so satisfying! 6๏ธโƒฃ Lao Sze Chuan (no photo) Not really recommended โ€” Dan Dan noodles, spicy chicken, and cumin lamb were just okay and tasted quite Americanized (why so many bell peppers? ๐Ÿซ‘). #Chicago #DowntownChicago #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFoodie #FoodReview #WalkableEats
