A beautiful setting
but unfortunately, a disaster of an experience!

We came in hopes of a 3 course meal + alcohol. As soon as we sat down, the servers were randomly removing, adding and resetting cutlery without any logic (no orders placed yet.) When it was finally time to order; major disappointment: the menu was varied, with multiple options, but in reality almost everything was unavailable. In the end, there were barely 2 or 3 options per category. And unfortunately none we wanted.

We decided to just have a glass of wine but again, a mistake: I (woman) was served directly without anyone offering my husband a taste (which is basic service etiquette!) On top of that, the so-called “premium” wine (which we never asked to be premium, no prices where communicated + was the cheapest wine we ever tasted) was charged at 13,500 Kwanza/ glass — a unjustifiable price!

Another unpleasant surprise: bread, olives, and water were placed on the table without us asking while still looking at the menu and of course, they appeared on the final bill. Result: 38,500 Kwanza for an empty stomatch at 22oclock, with rushed and unprofessional service to top it off.

And to end the evening, the fire alarm went off in the restaurant (and no rush whatsoever to turn it off! And seeing the reaction of the servers, this must happen multiple times a day) because a fragrance diffuser was placed right under a smoke detector
 unbelievable!

In short: a place that invests everything in its decor but shows no respect for the customer or the basic standards of a proper restaurant.

Avoid this place at all cost if you actually want to have a nice evening. If i could give a 0, i would!

I truelly recommend PROTEA HOTEL restaurant who welcomed us very late with open & loving arms, their food and service...

Stunning Food and Ambiance – Completely Ruined by an Arrogant and Unprofessional Management Team

There is no denying that Shogun offers exceptional food and an absolutely breathtaking ambiance. The atmosphere is elegant, and the culinary experience is top-notch. However, all of this is completely overshadowed by the shocking behavior of the management team.

The management is extremely rude, dismissive, and lacks basic customer service etiquette. They speak to clients with an air of superiority, as if they’re doing you a favor by even acknowledging your presence. They provide misleading information, confirm arrangements that are later denied, and take no responsibility for the confusion they create.

When I voiced a complaint, I was met with blatant arrogance. I was told, “If you think we have bad service, then we are not apt to serve you,” in the most dismissive tone possible. On top of that, the manager stated, “What my team said doesn’t matter — they can say anything, it doesn’t mean it’s true.” Absolutely unacceptable.

This level of disrespect and unprofessionalism is a huge disappointment for a place that presents itself as high-end. The management team is in desperate need of training on how to treat customers with respect, communicate clearly, and provide consistent information. It’s unacceptable to waste people’s time and respond rudely when they simply ask for what was promised.

The food and atmosphere may be outstanding, but unless the management improves their attitude and professionalism, the overall experience is deeply...

It was my second time spending an evening there, and once again, I really enjoyed it. This time, we chose to sit in their "Cub" — a cozy, separate zone where you can enjoy an Asian-inspired menu with a twist of European desserts. The menu includes sushi, rolls, and sashimi. For our meal, we ordered a sushi set and salmon carpaccio — absolutely delicious! For dessert, I went with the crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e. When I say it was “good enough,” trust me — it was actually better than at many places I’ve tried before. A perfectly balanced mix of all the ingredients 😊 Right now, it’s one of my favorite spots in Luanda. Though, knowing how unpredictable things are here, I’m not sure how long that will last đŸ€Ł Still, I definitely recommend visiting this place. It’s located near the ocean, and you can enjoy your meal with a gentle sea breeze in the background.
