I Went here last week to treat myself to a nice birthday dinner while in Antigua. As a lobster lover from New York I was excited to be on the island during lobster season. The place was nice as well as the waitress. I ordered the jerk lobster which was supposed to be Grilled and my friend ordered fish and chips. When the food came I noticed the lobster looked strange . It definitely wasn’t grilled and it was chopped up and drenched with a cheesy sauce , peppers and mushrooms. Seconds after tasting it (realizing there was no jerk taste) the chef happened to come to the table bringing a bowl of jerk sauce explaining that she accidentally gave me lobster thermidor which is prepared completely different . I hate to waste a Whole Lobster but if someone is paying 185 ecd it would make sense to give them what they are paying for . I did not enjoy the thermidor at all and adding jerk sauce on top of a cheesy sauce with mushrooms etc, is NOT going to cut it. I said to the chef that this is different and not why I asked for but she is clearly trying to make me keep it so she lied to my face saying “it’s the same” even though their thermidor is NOT grilled and contains a completely different sauce and veggies that did Not taste good to me. I still tried to dip pieces into the sauce and it did not help. I called the waiter over after 2 bites and told her I can just get something different altogether or the food should be redone because I don’t like it and drenching lobster thermidor in another sauce is unacceptable. I also said another option would be to discount the lobster. She takes it to the chef and came back and took my plate saying “she said she will just fix it” me believing that I will get what I ordered now I was happy that they had decency and customer service skills. Unfortunately when my plate came back it was literally the same lobster thermidor just drenched in the jerk sauce and put back in the shell. I knew because I remember the part of the shell I cracked and I still saw the mushrooms and remnants of the cheesy looking sauce. I have never seen anything like this done in a reputable restaurant. I am a travel blogger and was hoping to highlight this place but I absolutely would not recommend. I was happier going to a local Antiguan spot in English harbor called Carribbean taste for the grilled lobster meal. Mistakes happen but how you handle it is what’s important. The chef lacked integrity and a whole lobster went to waste because I still didn’t like it so it was fed to dogs on the way home . It actually tasted worse mixing the two completely different flavors and was not grilled which was my preparation style of choice. The bill was discounting by a whopping 20ecd. I was lied to and intelligence insulted . The issue wasn’t resolved so I’m not going back on my next trip. Total the bill was over 300 ecd and I left unhappy on my...
Read moreWe inquired about this place and both times we were told that we wouldn't enjoy it and we shouldn't go so we decided to dine somewhere else. Luckily for us they were over booked and we decided to go back to Big Head inspite of what we were told. I called and asked if they had lobster and whole snapper and they said yes. The person who answered the phone asked if I was Jamaican, when I said yes she said I'll start preparing the escovitch sauce for you. Immediately I was sold. We were seated immediately party of 4. And the great service was immediate.

Read moreService was top notch! Drinks were beautifully presented and tasty. The meal…well that was just amazing!
We started with the calamari and the mussels. The calamari was perfectly breaded (not overly) and crisp. It was served with jalapeño mayo that was flavorful but not spicy. The mussels were tender and cooked in a delicious sauce served with bread seasoned nicely and soft enough to sop up the sauce.
For our mains: My husband had the smoked tequila lobster with shrimp thermador. Holy moly! This was amazing and not overly rich. He only offered to share one bite!! I had the seafood curry. It was packed with a half lobster, mussels, shrimp and conch that was tender (not chewy like other establishments)! My daughter enjoyed the calamari so much, she ordered calamari and chips as her main, with a lovely coleslaw on the side. My son had the spicy shrimp which had enough heat without destroying your tastebuds.
For dessert we shared a lovely cheesecake with delicious pistachio ice cream.
This is a not so hidden gem that definitely deserves a stop! It was the best meal we had on the island! I wish we had...
