Great ambiance (live music) and views of the marina. The service was very good. These were expected based on online and word of mouth reviews. The food is okay but neither exceptional or justified by the high prices. The pizzas (65-75ECD/25-28US) were decent (nice dough) but not what I expected for an upscale exoerience. The sausage and mushroom penne pasta (79ECD/29US) was definitely firmer than al dente (dare I say really undercooked). We were given used dirty plates, mistakes happen and they apologized. Maybe they were having a bad evening but for the most expensive restaurant in Jolly Harbour, it was grossly underwhelming and quite disappointing.

What an amazing place! We got in Basilico without any expectations after a long day at the incredible Jolly beach. While nothing special happens in front, the party is all at the back! There is a large wood gazebo overlooking the harbour/canals. One of those honeymoon picture spots. Sunset in the background, the works. Staff was friendly and food really good, as you would expect in Europe. We tried the lobster linguine and the grilled lobster both were great. Our 3 year old daughter had a great time dancing and socialising with the live sax singer. Thank you Larisa the manager amd to her staff for such an amazing night!!

Excellent food, outstanding service and ambience! We had two salads, one with grilled shirimp, the other with calamari for starters, and we took for our mains the lobster with linguini, pasta with rapini and buffalo cheese and a copious portion of perfectly seasoned and made pork ribs with homemade barbeque sauce. The desert was an equally perfect piece of culinary art: panacotta with basil and strawberries. Hats off for the italian-romanian team who runs the restaurant!

The service was very bad, and it being on the higher spectrum price wise, you’d expect otherwise. We are a young couple who wanted to treat ourselves to a nice meal out, and we had a young waitress who was clearly quite inexperienced, which is totally understandable and not a problem. She might make mistakes, however no other member of staff came to check on how things were going, or made sure if she was doing the right things. For example, she came over to open our bottle of wine, which she struggled slightly to open (didn’t know how to cut the foil). Her colleague noticed came over and did that for her, and then proceeded to watch her pour. She poured a glass, but she over poured it massively, and it was a huge glass, and her colleague did say to her “that’s way too big”. Clearly she just needed to be taught what to do, which is fine. However this should have been an indicator to check in with her later on, which just didn’t happen.

We ordered a creamy shrimp pasta, which when it arrived, just didn’t have a sauce. It was basically just shrimp and dry pasta. When we questioned it, the waitress said we have to specify that we wanted the sauce, and that we didn’t (we didn’t say it, but there’s no options like that on the menu, it’s written that it just comes as is). When we ordered, she did take a really long time to write down each item, even having to check each one against the menu two or three times before putting in her notepad. Again, she clearly was just inexperienced, and just didn’t know the menu fully yet, which is fine. But then her colleagues just need to keep an eye on this during service.

Later in the meal, there was another party in the restaurant with a birthday celebration. They were given a free shot of limoncello each, which is completely understandable and very nice of the restaurant. However, every other table in the restaurant then proceeded to be given a free shot on the house as well, expect for us. This just felt slightly weird, especially as we’d been having issues with our service up to that point.

When the bill came, the creamy shrimp pasta was still on there. I politely said “we’re not paying for that, as it was incorrect to what we ordered, and we didn’t eat it”. She went away and came back with it taken off, however no one else, not manager or senior member of staff came over to apologise or check in. This was at a point where there were only 2 other tables still occupied in the restaurant, so they weren’t even busy at this point.

Finally, it felt slightly like we were being given the short end of the stick and being test subjects for the new waitress, whereas every other table got a more experienced member of staff. When considering that most of the other tables also looked like locals / residents of the resort, it did feel slightly like they were getting preferential treatment, whereas we (tourists) got the...

Truly one of the worst restaurants I have ever stepped foot in. I’m no critic but you all should know just how how bad my experience was here. To start, the food is just awful, like no doubt about it. They didn’t have like 4 items that the menu said they had, and Ofcourse the one they do have is the most expensive thing on the menu (lobster pasta) and it’s absolutely DISGUSTING. Undercooked, pasta noodles so hard it could crack your teeth, and i guess “freshly caught” really means it came directly from the ocean cause my food was freezing. Now that yall know how bad the food is, let’s get into the service. Lol where do I begin, truly some one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a restaurant. My wife orders the gnocchi off of the menu after I order the third choice I had to make that I don’t really want (again, they didn’t have half the menu) and the waitress copies both of our orders and writes them down. My food comes and my wife’s never does… it’s a good thing I brought it up to the other waiter because this would have never been corrected had I not. When asked why are food still was not out after waiting 45 mins plus, we were told they “didn’t have that” and the waitress stupidly tells us “I didn’t hear you order that” like bro what are talking about. She straight up lies to us and continues to not take accountability for her mistake. Truly an embarrassment that this place is still in business when the service is this awful. So now, after waiting nearly an hour for food that is just no where to be found, we get the insanely overpriced bill. This bill covered our very mediocre drinks and the atrociously bad Lobster Pasta that I think I maybe took 3 bites out of cause I couldn’t stomach the taste of it. Please save yourself the time and effort and learn from my mistake and DO NOT COME HERE. They will overcharge you, they probably don’t have what you want to order, and what you do end up ordering will probably be cold and just the worst thing u can put in ur tastebuds. If google had the option to rate places with negative stars this would have -5. Truly worst dining experience I have ever had in my life and i want to reiterate again to NEVER COME HERE. You’ll get better service fishing for the...

A couple weeks ago, I made a reservation at Basílico for NYE 2023 dinner at 7pm. On December 31st at around 3:30pm, I called the restaurant to cancel the reservation because an emergency situation arose so me and my friend would not be able to make it.

The woman who picked up my call could not seem to find our reservation but went on to say in a very unfriendly tone, “Even if I could find your reservation, it’s disrespectful to cancel a reservation. This is a fully booked restaurant. It’s very disrespectful disrespectful to a restaurant to cancel hours before a reservation. I hope you have an awful New Years.” Then she hung up the phone.

I called the restaurant right back and the same woman (who I strongly believe is the owner because of her ignorant and disrespectful attitude) answered.

I asked her what was all the attitude from before about. She went on another angry rant about the restaurant being fully booked and it being disrespectful to cancel a reservation so late.

I simply told her that a situation arose and I had no choice but to cancel. The woman didn’t even try to listen. She just raged on and on about “disrespect” and said, “I have work to do” then hung up again. This woman has no manners and spoke as if she was talking to an animal.

I am actually grateful this happened so me and my friend did not waste a dime on this restaurant run by such a tyrant. Rude, obnoxious, disrespectful and hostile are the words I would use to describe my experience. Never again. Would not...
