Covadonga — Restaurant in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

Such an absolute disappointment. Person 1 - BBQ ribs & mashed potatoes: the ribs were bland & dry, but they looked so delicious. Potatoes were somewhere between fine and good. Person 2 - chicken skewers: the meat was so dry, and despite having plums, onions and peppers, there was NO FLAVOR. I couldn’t figure out how they manage to put so much effort into something and make it an absolute disappointment. The French fries were good. Person 3 - BBQ ribs: these ribs were tender, juicy, and had some decent flavor. How did this place manage to bring out two orders of ribs and they tasted like from two different restaurants?

Covadonga was a wonderful experience. The staff is incredibly active and professional; they never linger, are fast and courteous, and are clearly exceptional at their jobs. The enormous menu was galling at first, but my wife and I ordered several different items (small jamón y queso sándwich, pumpkin stuffed with cheese and spinach, and lomo brochetta, one of my absolute favourites) and each came out reasonably fast and had been cooked deliciously to order. We also ordered a a bottle of local vina roja and agua sin gas which was delivered promptly and with flourish. I have visited here twice. The first time was good, and the second was disappointing.

The first time, we ordered set menus - often called 'menu ejectivo' here - that includes a dessert and tea, main dish, salad and a glass of wine. The price was around 10 dollars per person and the food was very delicately prepared like home made style.
