One of the great porteña pizzerías, famed for originating canchera (which is both a marinara topped pizza, devised for sale at football grounds without worrying about cheese spoiling, and a massive format for any pizza, like a football pitch). There is a core pantheon of styles by the slice (fugazza, zeta, zeta rellena, napolitana with sliced tomato, muzza, canchera, sometimes others) and you can ask them to add things before or after a reheat (anchovies, roquefort, possibly rúcula - I wouldn't push it and ask for more than one extra thing on a single slice). You can also order whole pizzas of a wider variety, but by the slice is more fun. They sell alcoholic uncle pours of moscato (dark, sweet wine, quite sacramental), among other drinks. Good empanadas (including 'árabes'... the owners have some Syrian roots),...
Read moreThe pizza is pretty darned good. We tried a half and half canchera, just to see what the fuss is all about, and classic napolitana. The crust is good, nice and browned on the bottom and not at all doughy, though, in my view, a little bland. The sauce is great, it really is – packed with herbs and garlic – one of the better sauces I’ve had, and certainly makes the canchera a worthwhile offering, since that’s where all the flavor comes from. The napolitana was a little less interesting, though still good – it had a modicum of the sauce, just enough to give a touch of the herbal flavor, and a lot of fresh tomatoes and a decent amount of cheese – and not a bad pizza mozzerella, though not top of the line. Overall, definitely recommended, and the atmosphere is great – old-time style, with lots...
Read moreAfter so many years here you think pizza wouldn’t surprise me or make me go ‘wow’ that’s different. But man. Oh man. This was so different and so good. Light and crisp crust comparable to the ellios frozen pizza of my youth in the absolute best way!!!! The pizza is really good and the cheese less pizza is so good. The sauce is just so right and not the same as used on the pizzas. So it just so good. Empanadas are excellent and cooked really well. Fried but not heavy at all. The ricotta pie was amazing. I am not usually a fan of Dulce de leche but our waiter said it was the best and I believe him!! Wow. So good. Overall a great meal. Truly unexpected for as many pizza places we have tried. Will for sure be back!! Great staff and...
