Shackleton Solo — Restaurant in El Calafate

Don’t usually leave reviews but this place was abysmal. The waitress though sweet basically was inept. I asked for a wine recommendation and she brought over a bottle Which she proceeded to open up and pour without even letting me taste. It was not that good and so a few minutes later I said it was not to our satisfaction when I mentioned to her that we’d like a different bottle, she acquiesced and suggested another that She brought over and this one she let me taste. I told her it was better and thanked her. later on the bartender or manager, came over to the table and made a surly remark about how we had two bottles of wine. He said why do you have that? since my Spanish was not that good it was not possible for me to explain what had happened, but I called the waitress over and said that I would buy both bottles since I didn’t want to Cause any problems. In the meantime, we ordered Asado For two persons, she asked me how I wanted to prepared, and I said, medium rare when it arrived it was completely well done. So we mentioned that to the waitress and asked her to fix it. Several minutes later, she brought over another plate and the meat was More rare but like shoe leather. We tried to eat as much of it as we could, but it was a very unpleasant experience. This restaurant is located a bit outside the city center but is easy to reach – and definitely worth the trip! The concept is really well thought out: guests can choose their own music on vinyl, which creates a unique atmosphere.

The food is excellent, with a great selection. I highly recommend the ribeye steak – perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The staff is very friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable.

Another big plus: the prices are significantly lower than in the restaurants in the city center, without compromising on quality. The bar is also a highlight – offering top-notch cocktails and a wide variety of drinks. The cozy setup makes it feel like you're sitting in your own living room.

Great little place! The atmosphere is very cozy, and the service was fantastic. We were even able to request an ABBA record which they then played, which was so fun!! Food was great for me as a vegetarian - I looooved the chickpea salad, and it was great to have something fresh after so many pizza/pasta restaurants. The wine was also very good and affordable. I will say that my partner had the pulled pork sandwich and it came without any sauce or coleslaw or anything, which is why I had to take away one star for the food - however, the brownie we had for dessert was divine! Maybe they could just review that one pulled pork recipe, because everything else was great. I wish I could have tried the falafel too, it looked so good!
