I also stayed at a different hotel in Calafate on this trip and this place was by far better value for a similar price paid. The view from my room and from the Jacuzzi is amazing, worth the price just to know that all the rooms have a window facing the lake view. If you are looking for a relaxing place to hole up and recuperate before or after your trekking adventures, look no further!
The lobby and breakfast area have a very quiet mellow vibe, and the other guests at the hotel seemed respectful of that, all talking quietly and keeping it peaceful and calm in there. I think I was the only person here under 60 (I am 38) .... would prefer this over screaming children and wild twenty-something party goers any day!!
The staff was very friendly and helpful with ordering taxis, you can walk to the center of town but it is a bit of a trek/time commitment.
The menu of the hotel restaurant is quite limited and offers no good vegetarian options. There are a couple of decent restaurants with wider menu selection walkable from the hotel.
On the downside, the jacuzzi was lukewarm...though I am getting the feeling that might be the way they like jacuzzis in Argentina?
Still, highly recommend this place and already booking another stay for the next time I am...
Read moreWe were there for 3 nights and our experience was not very good. We loved the lobby and the view and that was pretty much it. First of all, when we (me & my partner) made the reservation we were offered a standard room with separate beds or a superior room with one large bed for a little extra money. We paid the extra money and upgraded our reservation to sleep together comfortably and yet we got two full beds, it was impossible to have a good night sleep as a coulple in those. Not to mention the fact that the beds are really soft, like the matresses are oldish... It was less than ideal to pay a lot to sleep in separate beds, specially when we upgraded to avoid that situation. We went downstairs and the lady at the counter ignored us. She was actually dealing with another customer that had a reservation and did not received a room at all cause apparently they gave her room away.... We tried again later that day and asked if there had been a mistake with our room. they showed zero interest in clarifying things for us or helping us at all. The breakfast was just ok.we didnt use the hot tub because it is not in the same building and it was cold outside, we...
Read moreAmazing location and probably one of the best views. The hotel is tastefully decorated and staff is friendly with a special mention to Jorge and to Felicidad at the breakfast area: such a lovely and caring lady! I would add a few details that would give this hotel full 5 stars such as bathrobes to go to the jacuzzi and rugs at the bungalows entrance to dust off our shoes after a day of trekking. Also, fixing the jacuzzi (so all buttons work). And clarifying on the website that jacuzzi is included but in a common area as it was confusing and seems like all rooms have one (but just a few actually do). Also, they ask you to let them know if you don't want to change your towels, but they change them anyway everyday. Finally, be prepared to pet a lot of friendly loose dogs that are fed and kept warm by the administration, a...
