Khaosan Thai Food Mendoza — Restaurant in Mendoza

I went here with my wife (she is Thai) the service was fantastic and staff were friendly. The atmosphere had a Bangkok vibe which was great. The food was very good and the preparation was great. You could tell that they put alot of effort to try to use the right Thai spices and herbs into the meals. Though the massaman curry tasted morke like Laksa its was still very good. You have to respect the fact it was Argentinians preparing the food without any Thai assistance. I would highly recommend if your a Thai person or a farang who appreciates Thai food and needs a Thai food fix to come here. Yes its not the most authentic Thai food but you have to respect the fact they are doing such a great effort to get as close to Thai food with the limit of ingredients and remoteness of Mendoza.

Ordered spring rolls & some pad thai’ish chicken dish. We were told they had no sweet chilli sauce for the rolls so we said no thanks, but rolls came anyway so we said ok what the heck..chock it it up to lost in translation. It was cold. We returned it and said no thanks..again! It came out a second time this time this time with the chilly sauce they first said they didn’t have and thankfully hot. We ate it. Then our “chicken “ meal came out! Wasn’t chicken or beef. More like mystery meat with something resembling hair threw out. We’ve eaten food in 15 plus countries and this is the first time we’ve been under the distinct impression we were eating something other than what I ordered… i.e. who knows perhaps goat, dog, iguana maybe. It’s pretty cool place, they designed it to be like your inside a street in Bangkok. The food tho isn’t not great ordered beef was cut into very small chunks and was very chewy, I’m pretty sure they use bought pre-made sauce because it does not taste fresh or homemade. The portion size was good but the rice wasn’t flavoured or cooked well either. The garnish of slice cabbage was dry and not freshly cut either, and the cashews has burn or mould on not sure what it was
