La Marchigiana Centro — Restaurant in Mendoza

My boyfriend and I were visiting Mendoza for a week from San Francisco, and wound up breaking one of our cardinal travel rules and went here for dinner twice! If you are what you eat, I swear I turned into pasta. This family run spot has been around for 70 years, and it shows. It’s the perfect marriage, the best of both Italy and Argentina. We got lasagna with cream sauce with carne that was so fresh and cooked medium/medium-rare, and this ridiculous cream-of-corn-stuffed cannelloni de choclo — that looked like an enchilada with tomato sauce on top. We unabashedly took our leftovers to go and navigated our Airbnb kitchenette quirks just to be able to enjoy round two - so good! The best restaurant I've found in Mendoza. Place is fancy, and food is not only incredibly tasty, but also plates are big. And when I say big, I mean really big, like having a hard time finishing the plate. I ordered a pasta with a weird name filled with "Goat in Cabernet whine cooked for 16 hours at low temperatures"... 16 hours! I know it is probably a lie, but it was the best wine goat filling I ever ateon my life.

Pastas are their specially, but you can order other stuff. Place is not expensive, only slightly higher than a McDonald's. Unless you drink some fancy whine that is...

First of all, change the music. This is a classy Italian place which should have Italian music and not top 90’s pop :( Service was slow. Next, my husband ordered steak medium rare; it came out almost well done. The way staff handled it was poor communication. We had to wait another 20 minutes for 2nd steak. It was then on the rare side but better than first. I had lasagna, it was mushy. Not good at all. If you come here don’t have those 2 dishes. Furthermore, their are many other fabulous restaurants here in Mendoza; I would definitely skip this one. Try Montecatini for Italian instead.
